Our next Sunday to worship with the residents at Windsor will be June 11th at 2:30pm!  We really would appreciate everyone who can be there to help just share a smile, sing a hymn of praise in a joyful way, and be a presence that makes a difference in people's lives!!!  You are needed.  This small effort makes a great difference in people's lives!!!  Come and join us!!!

"I KNOW WHERE THERE'S A ROCK!"  Well, I don't....but my dad does!  On our family farm near Old Glory, Texas (Stonewall County) dad knows where there's a rock with an arrow carved into it.  It points to Kiowa Peak, near the Double Mountains, where, legend has it, Spanish Conquistadors buried a large amount of gold and silver bars!  In addition to the rock with the carved arrow, it also has other symbols and signs.  These rocks have come to be known as Spider Rocks or key stones.  They supposedly contain all the information you need to find the treasure - if you understand all the symbols and signs
Needless-to-say - the location of the treasure still remains a secret and undiscovered!!!

But I also know the location of another rock!!!  It also has signs and symbols - but they are no secret!!!  There's a song we sometimes sing:  "JESUS IS THE ROCK OF MY SALVATION!"  He  not only points the way to the greatest treasure of all time - HE IS THE GREATEST TREASURE OF ALL TIME!!!  And He's always with us!!!  You don't have to search and hunt and look for Jesus - HE IS WITH US!!!  How many times have you heard others say, "I've found Jesus!"  In truth, it was Jesus who has found us!  He was never "LOST" - we were!!!
I'm going to the family farm and do some TREASURE HUNTING....we may find something and we may not.  That's okay. . .'cause I've already found the greatest "treasure" there is....JESUS!!!  How about you????

The Mardi Gras lunch and parade was simply GREAT!!!  The "Good Times Did Roll" last Sunday afternoon in the pavilion as a great crowd came for the Children's Department sponsored lunch and parade!!!  Your generosity came across is the amount of $519.00 donated to the Children's Department!!!  Thanks to everyone who helped make the event such a great time for all!!!

Don't forget the baby shower for the Stanbrough's today from 3:30pm - 5:00pm in the fellowship hall!!!  Remember, they are adopting a baby boy from Russia - who is already about 20 pounds!!!  (I think Johnny wants to raise a middle linebacker or steer wrestler!)  Let's come and wish them well and celebrate with them in this happy event!!!

If you'd really like some great exercise and learn how to do a few dance moves, then mark down Thursday nights in March at 7:00pm to come and learn how to dance!!!  We'll meet at 1st Christian Church and Scott and Charlotte Gilmore will be our instructors.  There will be a small fee - but it's well worth it!!!  And it will be good practice to get you in shape for our SPRING FLING ON APRIL 1ST IN THE PAVILION!!!  We'd also love to have pictures of YOU in the 1950's!!!  They will be scanned and put on disc and we'll be showing those during the dance that night!!!  We'd also like to know your favorite songs of the 1950's - so please write them down and give to Vickie Reed, Larry, or Brenda Gonzalez!  What was your favorite food during the 1950's???  We'd also like to know that so we can add it to the menu for our 50's Diner we'll have during the dance.  Cost for the dance & diner is a donation to the youth department!!!  We'd also like you to be inviting as many of your friends as possible to the dance!!!  It will take place from 7:00-10:00pm in the pavilion!  And if you have old records that you don't need or want, please donate them to the youth department and we'll be using them for decorations!  Oh, and please dress appropriately - whatever that means - for a 50's dance!!!  We'll have prizes for the "best dressed" in the 50's theme!!!

Our Lenten Bible Study will begin on Tuesday, March 7th, from 7:00-8:00pm in the fellowship hall.  We'll be using Max Lucado's study on grace, "In the Grips of Grace" as our Lenten Study.  Each session will stand alone, so to speak, and you can come any Tuesday of the study and not be "lost".  We will meet on the Tuesdays throughout Lent, with the exception of April 4th, which is an "E-Terrell" event.  We will meet on Sunday, April 2nd, from 4:00-5:00pm for that one session.  The last session will be on April 11th, which is Tuesday of Holy Week.  Lent is a time we should be concerned with deepening our spiritual growth, and this study will certainly help us do just that!  Please come and join us!!!

Next Sunday, March 12th, will be our next opportunity to worship with the residents of Windsor Care Center.  They really look forward to seeing and hearing from College Mound UMC, so please come and join us for the brief thirty minute service!!!

The next Men's Fellowship meeting will be on Wednesday, March 15th, at the Kountry Kitchen, and once again, GUESTS ARE INVITED!!!  If you plan on attending, please e-mail the pastor or let Rick King know by Sunday, March 12th, so we can get word to the restaurant!!!  We will meet at 7:00pm.

The United Methodist Women are schedule to meet on Wednesday, March 8th, and 22nd, at 2:00pm in the fellowship hall.  If you have that time available, please come and join them!!!

Soul Sisters continue their study of "Bad Girls of the Bible" on Wednesday, March 8th and 22nd, at 6:30pm in the Jr. High Classroom of the Education Building.  It's a great study!!!  Come and join in!!!

Mark it down on your calendar - APRIL 8TH - MAN OF THE YEAR AWARD AND FISH FRY!!!  More information will be forthcoming!!!

The Youth Department will be sponsoring our annual St. "Patties" Day hamburger lunch on Sunday, March 19th, immediately following the morning service of worship.  And immediately after our lunch we invite everyone to GO FLY A KITE DAY!!!  It was great fun last year, even if the tree did eat Sheryl Arredondo's favorite kite!!! COME AND JOIN US AND INVITE A FRIEND!!!

FAT TUESDAY ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT PANCAKE SUPPER IS COMING on February 28th from 5:30-7:30pm!!!  Fat Tuesday or "Shrove Tuesday" marks the last date before we begin the solemn season of Lent with "Ash Wednesday" Services the next night at 7:00pm in the sanctuary with the imposition of ashes.  Shrove Tuesday comes from the word "Shrive," which means to confess.  It was a day of confession before the Lenten Season began.  It also used up different foods in the home that were forbidden during Lent, and one of the best ways to do this was through making pancakes.  The word "Mardi Gras" is French for "grease" or "Fat Tuesday" - and many people saw the day as a last chance to "indulge" themselves before the season of Lent, at which time many people "gave up" something.
Many people still have "pancake races", begun when they ring the Shriving Bell, or Pancake Bell, which was used to call people to confession.  The first one to reach the church with their hot skillet and pancake, flipped at least three times, received a new prayer book and a kiss from the pastor (we'll not do that one)!!!  So invite your friends and family to College Mound's version of FAT TUESDAY from 5:30-7:30pm on Feb. 28th!!!  The Youth Department will be our hosts and would appreciate a donation to the youth fund for this event.  Who knows - we may even have our own "PANCAKE RACES" that night!!!

JUST A REMINDER:  VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL - JUNE 25TH - 30TH!!!  MARK IT DOWN!!!
