Okay, so couldn't take it any more...woke up today and was more swollen than on Sunday, plus under my eyes.  So we went to ER at Kaufman about ten a.m., perfect timing - after that they were swamped!  Make a long story short, finally had the abscess lanced, drained, had IV antibiotics, pain meds, and left for home about 4pm.  Feeling some better...but will take a while.  You can certainly add me to the prayer list!
I'll go to Dr. Barnes about Wed or thursday.
Thanks....
Larry

From Becca, 12/20/11
I found out that the lady I had you praying for yesterday did get hurt pretty badly. She was crossing at the light and a truck turned left at the intersection and hit her on her left side. She broke her leg in 3 places (she is probably in her 60's). Again, she is one of my tenants in my duplex. Fortunately, her sister is the tenant in the other half of the duplex. Please keep Bettye Smith and her sister Melissa in your prayers.

Thank you,
Becca

From Becca, 12/19/11
Just heard from one of my tenants that her sister (which is the other tenant of mine) got hit by a car while crossing Ovilla Rd. in Red Oak. I haven't heard an update yet, but they took her to Dallas in an ambulance. Her name is Bettye Smith. Please say a prayer for her! Thanks!

From Kathy B., 12/19/11
I just received a telephone call from Mary Wolfe.  She is very concerned for her mother, Janie Yates.  Janie may get to go home from the hospital today, depending upon what the doctor determines.  Janie's cancer is now in the lung, breast and spine.  She is being put on hospice (according to Mary).  She will have a port put in on this coming Friday, in order to start chemotherapy.  She is very weak and really not able to communicate very well at this time.  Please keep Janie, and Mary in your prayers.

Thanks,
Kathy Boltin

From Val, 12/16/11
Hi,
Dawn just called and ask me to pass this on. Oneta's surgery went well & she is doing good.
Dawn visited with George today.
He wanted her to pass on thanks for all the cards, gifts, prayers & visits. She said he is doing great.
However when reading his cards he told her some of them were from his niece, nephew, brother. (Not always right!) He did know who most of us were. He's not too happy with P.T. As they only work with him 1 hour a day. He is making a few friends. One being the P. Therapist. He says it will get better as soon he will be in charge of his P.T. (G)
He wants everyone to know that he is not incapacitated ~ just can't walk. He has been to two Christmas parties.
Someone asked what size under ware. 34-36. I did not ask boxers or briefs. I got him a sweat suit in medium and Dawn says that is the right size. (Gray is what I got)
He wants visitors.
I just clicked fwd on one of Larry's e-mails & deleted his message. I hope this gets to everyone.
Have a great day Val

From Larry, 12/15/11
Many of you are aware that Jason and Kelly Lengacher had a fire in the home this last weekend.  Many of the items are salvagable, but not without a great deal of work and labor.

Therefore, they have expressed a "need" for these items:

- washing powder (or liquid detergent)
- toilet paper
- paper towels
- cleanning supplies (whatever that means)
- paper products (paper plates, plastic ware, cups, etc.)
- Febreeze
- trash bags (all sizes)

Their Christmas gifts were saved, as were some of the clothes, furniture, etc., but will take a lot of cleaning (several times over) to restore it to use.

If you have any of these items you could donate for them, please bring them to the church this Sunday (or sooner - if sooner, you could take them to NUCOR!)!!!

Jason & Kelly both work with Kitty at Nucor.  Jason is one of our College Mound Fire Dept. volunteers.  A fire at ANY time is disastrous, but at Christmas is even more devestating.  Anything you could do to help with these items, would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks so much,

Continue to also lift up Mary Wolfe and Janie Yates - some bugs going on over there!

Also continue to lift up Oneta Ott and her bad back!

It was great to have so many of you at CHURCH NIGHT OUT on Monday night!  I hope you enjoyed Don Morgan (for those of you who want to hear some of his music, I think you can go to www.donmorganmusic.com to find out more about him (and the youtube site where you can actually hear a little music).  It was GREAT for me, as it was FORTY YEARS AGO that I've been around Don (while in band at Irving High School), and we reconnected about two months ago at a band reunion event!  I never knew he could play anything other than a sax, much less SING!!!

See you all this Sunday!!!

From Patty Boren, 12/13/11
Hi Everyone!

You'll remember a recent email I sent asking for any chimney experts out there for the lady we recently helped by re-roofing her home.  When we did that, we found that there had been a chimney fire and strongly urged her not to use her chimney until repaired.  The only thing was that this was how she was heating her house!  Well, we were able to locate a great chimney guy who went out to her house today.  Bad News: The entire insides of the chimney need to be replaced.  Good News: He's volunteered his service call, the one day of labor this will take, all drywall repair and offered parts at his absolute bottom dollar cost.  The cost will be $800 to repair her chimney.  If you're still looking for a charitable gift for Christmas, we're asking for donations toward this repair.  Some of you offered donations previously, so now that we know the details and if you're not already committed to another giving opportunity, just see me and I'll definitely put your gift to good use!  Thanks and see you at the Choir Concert Saturday!

From Larry, 12/12/11
First a couple of announcements:

- CHURCH NIGHT OUT TONIGHT!!!
It starts at 7:00pm at Russell Memorial UMC in Wills Point.  Still not too late to call if you need a ride!
If you want to ride the new bus, it will leave FROM COLLEGE MOUND UMC at 6:30pm!!!  1st come, 1st serve!!!

ENTERTAINMENT tonight is an old school friend of mine (maybe I shouldn't say "old" - he was a year behind me!) - DON MORGAN.  Don will be playing keyboard - CHRISTMAS MUSIC - singing, etc.  He has worked with Philips, Craig, and Dean in the past and done other church work, but mainly just does his own thing with his OWN BAND.  But it will be just Don alone tonight - so I hope you all will enjoy!!!

Remember - there is NO CHARGE for this event.  It doesn't mean that it is FREE - so if you would like to make a donation to help with the expenses, please feel free to GIVE!!!

- SECOND:  SPECIAL NEED FOR DONARS TO "ANGEL TREE"!!!
After making my announcement yesterday that we've not had any requests for Christmas help, I've now received several!  Today is the deadline for most "Angel Tree" programs and they are finding they are far behind!!!  We helped last night with one request from Wills Point High School.
Today, we've been asked to help with the College Mound Water Department's Angel Tree program.  They are falling way short of helping some very desperate and much in need families and children in the College Mound area!  If you can give ANYTHING, please go by the CM Water Company and make a donation!!!  Or if you would like to call and ask for more specifics, please just give their business office a call:  972-563-1355!!!  I know they need help with at least TWENTY CHILDREN!!!

From Patty Boren, 12/10/11
Our ramp project is in full swing.  THANKS to several volunteers, the ramp was fabricated at the Pavillion on Friday and was transported to our jobsite.  So, there's no need to meet again this coming Friday.  We're going to start at the ramp site - 5288 Abner Rd., Terrell, TX - at 8:00 AM on Saturday, December 17th.  Shawn and I will be at the Church parking lot at 7:30 AM if anyone wants to follow us there.  We'll leave at 7:45 AM.  I will have some maps this Sunday if anyone wants to get one from me and go straight there.  Also, you can Mapquest the site address.  Shawn's cell phone is 214-500-1523 if you need it.  Everyone is so excited to be a part of this meaningful project!  We have two more funded ramps waiting for our volunteer spirit and one more ramp that we'll be working on to obtain funding.  Let us know if you know of any company or organization that would want to be involved.  Thank you again for all the volunteers and if anyone wants to join in finishing the ramp - come on down!

Patty

From Larry, 12/10/11
I forget to add  Oneta Ott to the list.  Hopefully they were able to find out something from her test in Rockwall yesterday!

But the important thing is that the family would love to have someone come and stay with Oneta on the weekends.

If  you know of someone who could do this for them, please get in touch with them - or Barbara, Oneta's daughter.  They would certainly appreciate it!!!!

And while we are at it - many of you have been asking about who we COULD/NEED to help out for Christmas.  Vickie Reed has at least one family in mind that I know of (LONG VERSION:  she was thinking of another family that might need help and found out they were going to do without any Christmas gifts among themselves so they could help out this other family!!!!  GO FIGURE!!!)....

Jackie Winton may also have someone in mind for us as well....COME TO CHURCH TOMORROW SO THAT WE CAN DISCUSS THIS!!!!

Larry
Larry, 12/10/11
1st concern is that Jason and Kelly Lengacher had a fire that destroyed their home yesterday.  They both work at Nucor with Kitty and Jason is one of the firemen with the College Mound Fire Department - always on hand at our auctions with the CMFD!  The main concern is that they are all okay and alright - just really bad timing at Christmas and all!  And Kelly just finished all her shopping too!!!  If there is anything different that comes up, we will let you know a more specific way that you could help them.

Prayers also go to the Ed Ferguson's family for Gayla, his cousin, whose husband passed away suddenly last week.  Please keep them all in your prayers!

Prayers still for Tommy Baldwin as he recovers from his surgery this last Thursday!

Prayers for Henri - who although she got good reports - needs all our prayers and love!

Let's continue to pray that Woody will get the new job in Bedford so he can be around more!!!

The schedule for tomorrow is:
9:30am - Coffee Fellowship
10:00am - Sunday School
11:00am - Worship:  3rd Sunday of Advent - Choir singing "Still, Still, Still"  Sermon:  "Lessons
    Learned from a 'Scrooge'" John 1: 6-8; 19-28
2:30pm - Christmas Carols at Windsor Care Center
3:30pm - Christmas Play Practice (fellowship hall)
4:30pm - Christmas Choir Practice (sanctuary)
5:30pm - PIZZA PARTY FOR PLAY CAST & CHOIR!!!

Monday is our CHURCH NIGHT OUT at 7:00pm at Russell Memorial UMC in Wills Point!  If you need a ride, please let the pastor or Thomas King know!!!  If you'd like a ride on the new bus, it will leave from College Mound UMC at 6:30pm!!!  Although there is "no charge" involved, we will accept DONATIONS IN ANY AMOUNT to help with the expenses that are incurred!!!  Our entertainment will be a high school friend of Larry's, Don Morgan, who will be playing his keyboard and singing Christmas music!!!

This Wednesday will be our PLAY PRACTICE at 6:00pm in the fellowship hall!!!  Our "snack" for the night will be fries and corn dogs!!!  COME AND JOIN US!!!!

And don't forget our CHOIR'S CHRISTMAS CONCERT this coming Saturday, Dec. 17th at 7:00pm in the sanctuary!  This is a great time to invite your friends who attend other churches (or no  church at all) to come and be a part of our church's activity!!!  We will repeat the performance on Sunday morning, Dec. 18th, at 11:00am!!!

And next Sunday, Dec. 18th, will be our CHRISTMAS PLAY:  "FOR THE GLORY OF THE KING" at 6:00pm in the fellowship hall!  Please bring your favorite Christmas snacks to share and don't forget to get your picture made with St. Nick!!!!

Tommy Baldwin's surgery went well.....feel sure they got it all but are having him go to another doctor to have some lymph nodes checked to make sure they are clear. Max talked with him and he was doing fine.
Wanted to THANK EVERYONE for their prayers and concern.

Pat

From Barbara, 12/8/11
Couldn't get the computer to behave, but now it's up again. Henri, Dewey and Dessie are on the way home from M.D.Anderson. The doctors say the tumor has shrunk some, and the "marker" is a lower number. I'm afraid to say numbers for fear I'll get them wrong. Anyway, it's better news. Also, she will take chemo treatments every three weeks instead of every two weeks. I KNOW those numbers are better! We know these are blessings. Thanks for your prayers. We prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus and recognize the gifts we have been gtiven.Love to all.

From Patty Boren, 12/4/11
We've set the times and details for our first Ramp Project.  You'll see those below.  Now that we know what we're doing (ha!ha!), feel free to show up at any or all of these stages if you haven't volunteered yet.

Project Address: 5288 Abner Road, Terrell, TX - Between 2727 and 2728 - just around the corner from the CMUMC

Friday, December 9th: We're picking up the materials at Pat Taggert's in Quinlan around Noon and will be at CMUMC around 1:00 PM to begin fabrication.  (Will someone open the Pavilion who has keys?)  Should only take a couple of hours.

Friday, December 16th:  1:00 PM.  Meet at the church to load up materials and take to the residence.  Will probably be getting everything there this day and getting organized.  I understand there's only so much we can do this day, as we don't want to get started and block their exit from his house while not being able to finish it out this day.  Will just be there for a few hours.

Saturday, December 17th: Meet at the church at 8:00 AM and go to the residence to finish up the project.  Will be there most of the day but finished in time for those that need to to leave for Choir Performance Practice.  Also, we have a few volunteers showing up from Terrell Kiwanis that have funded this project.

On both the 16th and 17th, if you think you'll be later than 15 minutes from the meet time, be sure and locate the residence and feel free to drive on over there and meet there.  If you need to call someone for directions or info during this process, Shawn's Cell Phone is 214-500-1523.

Jackie Winton - Thanks for your offer of lunch, etc.  Just needed for the 17th - I count no more than 13 at this point.  If you've got something going now that you know the date and time and can't do lunch, let me know and I'll get that taken care of.

Thanks everyone for volunteering, providing food and encouragement to get our first Ramp built!

First a JOY ---- HENRI IS COMING HOME TODAY AFTER HER CHEMO TREATMENT
I talked to her yesterday and she sounded sooooo good.....like our Henri for sure.
    Prayers answered......

A concern - Tommy Baldwin has a mole on his toe (been there along time) started bothering him so yesterday had a biopsy and it is a melanoma so he is scheduling an appointment with a surgeon to have it taken care off. Hope to have it removed during the school holidays as he is a school bus driver.

Also remember Patty Lux with her surgery tomorrow for a broken foot.

And all the other folks we don't know about......

    Thanks, Pat

    From Patty, 11/28/11
If you weren't able to make Sunday's Snack Supper, we had a great presentation from Pat Taggert from Quinlan UMC about his passion for working with Texas Ramps.  I actually thought Darrell Bolton and Frank Rasor were going out to build a Ramp that night since their questions sounded like they were already pros!  We want to commit to building a ramp for a man whose request has been made since August.  The design has been made and it's already funded!  It hasn't been done yet because of lack of volunteers.  That's the ONLY reason.  I bet we can remedy that!  A couple of our guys have committed to one afternoon to fabricate the ramps in our Pavillion.  Then the plan is to start building the ramp over two days - Friday, December 16th (afternoon) and finishing up Saturday, December 17th.  By starting Friday afternoon, we'll be done sooner on Saturday in plenty of time to rest up and be prepared to enjoy or sing away that night at our Christmas Performance.  We have to have at least 6-7 volunteers to make this a reality.  They are so sure of our volunteer spirit, they have two more ramps -- also funded -- that we can participate in (or take on ourselves).  And -- the best part -- we already have a volunteer to make a scrumptious lunch for us on the 17th!

Let me know if you'd like to volunteer.  The more we have the quicker it will go, so we'll definitely take more than 6 or 7 willing souls.  Send me a note that you'll be on board and we'll get times, places and details out to you.  The first ramp is just between 2727 and 2728 - just around the corner from the church....... Sounds like a neighbor!  We might even have to come up with a name for this group...

    See ya in Church!
