Stories of courage and compassion in the face of crisis.
We’re hearing stories every day—of courage, sacrifice, and selfless love. Cathy invites us into a few unforgettable moments: a child who gave away her Crocs, a stepfather banging on doors to alert neighbors of rising waters, and camp counselors ensuring their kids’ safety at summer camp.
And then there’s Scott Ruskan, Aviation Survival Technician Third Class in the Coast Guard. In the middle of a flood, he rescued 165 people—one at a time—loading them into a helicopter basket, calming frightened children, and saying “yes” when a young boy asked if his beloved stuffed animal could come too.
Scott worked for 30 hours straight. When asked why, he simply replied: “I was doing my job.”
Esther 4:14 comes to life:
“…and who knows but that you have come to your position for such a time as this.”
Because of people like Scott, and countless others we never hear about, 165 people woke up with a future. One little boy woke up with his stuffed friend by his side.
