Welcome! I’m Rev. Dana Norton—known around here simply as “Pastor Dana.” I’m an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church and have served churches in suburban, small-town, and rural communities. I was blessed to be appointed to College Mound UMC in July 2023, and from the start, my family and I have been embraced with the deep love and hospitality that define this congregation.

At College Mound, we say “You’re only a stranger here once”—and we mean it. Our church is a place where all are truly welcome. When you visit, expect to be greeted not just by friendly faces, but also by our church dogs—two once-stray pups who’ve become beloved members of our church family. A third neighborhood dog often joins in the fun, and together they even serve as comfort companions when someone’s in need.

College Mound UMC has been a steady, vibrant presence in this community for 180 years. Ministry here is active and hands-on—from Vacation Bible School and our summer “Christmas in July” luncheon and rummage sale, to our Fall Festival, Lord’s Acre celebration, Thanksgiving meals for homebound neighbors, and our annual Christmas play. If you’re looking for a church where you can put your faith into action, you’ll find a home here.

I’m married to Andy Norton, a dual credit History and Government teacher in Dallas ISD, and a faithful partner in ministry. We’re passionate about social justice and cherish our time with our daughters, Naomi (a recent UT Austin grad) and Anna (currently a student there). Our home is full of life—including our dogs, Flower and Mozart, and our cats, Amonté, Cleopatra, and Lola. There’s always something going on in the Norton household!

Outside of church, I enjoy reading, crocheting, cooking, and sharing life’s joys and challenges with our church family. I look forward to meeting you—whether on a Sunday morning, at one of our many community events, or just around town. There’s a place for you at College Mound!
